1907 - The Market Clock
The first Market Hall clock was erected on the 18th. of May 1907 and having stopped working some years before was removed in March 1971.
Its replacement was erected in mid-December 1971 and was modern in style and worked well. Unfortunately it looked totally out of place on the old building and was despised by one and all.
A clock more in line with the building it adorned was erected as part of the centenary celebrations on the 17th. of December 1999 despite the fact that the market had closed some eight years earlier.
